Half Term in the Cotswolds

Discover the delights of the Cotswolds this October half term. From welcoming pubs serving local food in front of an open fire to rolling hills covered in crunchy red and gold leaves, we've put together a guide on our favourite activities for all ages this October.

Pick Your Own Pumpkin

Throw on your wellies and head to Adam Henson’s Cotswold Farm Park for a day of farm fun. Take a stroll along the pumpkin trail and find the biggest pumpkin to take home with you, ready for an evening of pumpkin carving. There’s also a maize maze to explore, rare animals to discover and plenty of open space to let off some steam! With lots to see and do this October, a visit to the Farm Park is not to be missed!

Warwick Castle

If scary stories and spooky adventures get your heart racing, we’d highly recommend a trip to Warwick Castle this half term! Spend a day exploring the castle, completing the mysterious maze and discovering what it takes to be a ghost in the spooky school. Or, for the older members of your party, discover the castle’s secrets after dark with a walk through the haunted dungeon, before enjoying live music and local street food.

Feast on a Sunday Roast

After a day of exploring the Cotswolds, there’s no better way to take a break than to enjoy a roast dinner in front of a roaring open fire. With so many friendly local pubs to choose from, you are sure to find a pub that suits your party. The Chequers and The Fox at Barrington are two of our favourites, with their friendly staff, delicious menus and welcoming atmospheres.

Enjoy a Show at the Theatre

Whatever the age of your party, there is a show for everyone this half term! Head to The Everyman Theatre in Cheltenham and enjoy an afternoon of family-friendly fun with ‘The Midnight Mission’ or the award winning ‘Girl From The North Country’. Or, for a more cultural day out, why not visit the Royal Shakespeare Company in Stratford-Upon-Avon and experience a unique show in the traditional theatre?

Discover Autumnal Trails

Grab your walking boots and a warm coat and explore one of the many trails, arboretums or National Trust properties in the Cotswolds. With crisp mornings and sunny afternoons, October is an excellent time to get outside and explore nature. We love a morning at Batsford Arboretum or a stroll along the Cotswold Way, before grabbing a cup of coffee at a local coffee shop!
