Compton Verney Gallery

Compton Verney Art Gallery is a magnificent 18th-century mansion surrounded by 120 acres of parkland landscaped by Lancelot ‘Capability’ Brown. The impressive permanent collections focus on six specific areas which are generally under-represented in other British museums and galleries: 16th-century Germanic art; 17th-century Neapolitan art; British portraiture, Chinese bronzes; British folk art; and the work of 20th-century textile designer Enid Marx. Set aside a morning to visit the gallery and take a walk around the beautiful gardens. There is also a lively programme of exhibitions, workshops, family events and wellness activities - so it’s always worth checking the calendar on their website.
